Built in the first decade of the 20th century, the Todd Mercantile is the heart of Historic Todd. Originally the terminus of the famous Virginia Creeper Railroad, Todd has gone through a historic flood in 1940 which destroyed the railroad and most of the timber industry and more recently a devastating fire which destroyed the General Store. Currently used as a bakery, community gathering spot, and consignment, the Todd Mercantile is poised to be the center of life in Todd and the New River.
